The Washington Wizards have matched Otto Porter’s offer sheet from the Brooklyn Nets, according to Candace Buckner of the Washington Post.

Washington’s upper management were always going to be in a lose-lose situation. If they let Porter walk, they still would not have much cap-space for the upcoming season, and would lose one of the best three-point shooters in the NBA. But now Porter is the highest paid player on the team — which may cause some friction in the locker room, considering he is only the third or fourth best player on the roster currently. John Wall has still refused to sign the $170 million super-max extension he was offered on July 1st, which should be very concerning for D.C. fans everywhere.

Ernie Grunfeld now has his hands tied going forward. Getting a player like DeMarcus Cousins in free agency will be very difficult to do. Hopefully for Wizards fans everywhere, this signing isn’t the beginning of the end of the John Wall era in D.C.
