The Milwaukee Bucks drafted Thon Maker, a very raw prospect, with the 10th overall pick in 2016 draft. Thon is expected to take at least two or three more years in order to reach his full potential. That being said, Maker now has the opportunity to start at the power forward with Jabari Parker’s recent injury (torn ACL).

Thon has a very unique skill-set. At 7’1″ he is shooting 55.6% from the three-point line, in the 28 games he has played in so far. To have an unusual ability to handle the ball and create off the dribble at his height, is an insane trait. He has also been shooting an efficient 53.2% from the field in his limited playing time so far this year.

Thon Maker has only had two games this year where he has played more than 20 minutes, and in both of those games he has scored 12 points in each. Now this many not seem like a lot, but if Maker is now a permanent starter for the Bucks and putting up double-digit points often, that is a very good start for a player with unreal potential.

In both of those games he also knocked down 3 three-pointers on very efficient shooting (in the two games combined he shot 6/9 from deep).

Thon Maker seems to fit right into what Milwaukee is looking for, and that’s tall, athletic players. At 7’1″ he is already one of the better three-point shooters on the team (which is something they have been laking). He can pull up in front of almost anyone and have a huge advantage, because of his height and wingspan. Offensively, he can be a very versatile player, like Giannas Antetokounmpo has developed into. Playing with Giannis should certainly help Thon Maker’s growth, while being able to learn from someone who has a similar build and skill-set.

With Khris Middleton‘s return for the Bucks, look for Milwaukee to make a playoff push if Thon can become a quality starter. Even with Jabari out for the rest of the year, if Thon Maker can step-up for this team like he is capable of, Milwuakee will be in the playoff picture when the season comes to an end.
