James Harden has once again proven the argument that he’s not only the league’s best Point Guard, but also the league’s best player.
33 points, 7 rebounds, and 9 assists on 12-20 shooting from the floor — along 4/5 shooting from deep. Harden has continued his triumphant MVP campaign, and the league should definitely be watching.
Trevor Ariza followed with 17, along with 8 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals. Clint Capela was a stifle defensively. He added a near double-double of 8 points, 13 rebounds, and 5 rejections. Eric Gordon also contributed with 16, while Nene added 3.
Joel Embiid was once again impressive in 22 minutes, but also very shaky. He did finish with 13 points (6-10 FG) and 10 rebounds, but committed 6 turnovers and 5 fouls. You can tell he’s still adjusting to the NBA-level of play, and also the simple fact that he hasn’t played organized basketball in 3 seasons. But it’s going to be a MUST for him to control his aggressive-play, and his physicality.
Dario Saric and Gerald Henderson each followed up with 11, while Ersan Ilyasova added 13 and 6 off the bench, along with Stauskas’ 12.
Robert Covington had another awful time shooting the basketball. He had just 7 points on 14.3% shooting.
The Rockets have a HUGE matchup on Wednesday, as they go on to face the Oklahoma City Thunder — Harden vs. Westbrook.
