Gay will provide some much needed offensive firepower to a Spurs team who relied too heavily on Kawhi Leonard to put the ball in the basket for them. Gay has been an excellent scorer ever since he stepped foot in the league, and has averaged more than seventeen points per game in ten of the eleven seasons he has been in the league. His biggest hindrance so far to even greater success in his career has been his nagging injuries. This past season was ended early for Gay because of a full rupture to his left Achilles.
Barring injuries, this move will help the Spurs tremendously. Greg Popovich will maximize whatever talent that Gay has left in the tank, and maybe give us the best version of Gay we have seen in quite some time.
Rudy Gay took to Twitter express his excitement, and Spurs Nation should be just as excited as him.
Let’s go #Spurs
