Former Boston Celtics Center Kelly Olynyk has signed with the Miami Heat, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Olynyk leaving the Celtics came as no surprise after they renounced his qualifying offer on July 4th, making him an unrestricted free agent.

Olynyk will add some solid depth off of the bench for Miami, and some shooting touch in the front court. This move almost guarantees the Miami Heat will contend for home court in the first round of the NBA Playoffs. Olynyk proved that he has the ability to play a key role for a championship contender. He put up a huge twenty-six points against the Washington Wizards in a win-or-take-all Game 7. He has proven that he has the ability to take and make the big shots.

The Celtics will miss Olynyk’s size and shooting ability, and Miami will now reap the benefits of Boston’s inability to keep their role players.
