Anthony Bennett will go down as a big bust in the NBA. Selected number one by the Cleveland Cavaliers out of UNLV, he played in 52 games in his rookie season and averaged 4.2 points, 3 rebounds and shoot 35.6 percent from the field. He was then traded to the Timberwolves along with Andrew Wiggins in the trade that sent Kevin Love to Cleveland. His stats got a little better in Minnesota as he averaged 5.2 points and 3.8 boards.
The Nets were impressed with Bennett after they worked out with him in the offseason. (Via Mike Mazzeo ESPN) Mazzeo also stated Brooklyn “needs to find diamonds in the rough” since it “does not have total control over its own first-round pick until 2019.” The move did not work out for the Nets and Bennett has only played 11.5 minutes a game.
The Nets mainly got rid of Bennett in search for more defensive help. They are 27th in the league in defensive efficiency rating, per NBA.com. Quincy Acy is becoming a good rim protector for the Mavericks NBA D-League affiliate, the Texas Legends. He has done well in Texas and now, he’s ready to get back in the NBA.
Bennett is only 23 years old, so he can still work hard and try to improve so he can stay on a team for a longer period of time. Getting waived by the worst team in the NBA is not a good sign though. Every time he gets waived, his chances of finding a new team go down.

The 2013 NBA draft was not a good one, Bennett is one of the worst names in it too. There are only a few good names in it. The best name by far is Giannis Antetokunmpo. Some other good names are Victor Olidipo, Otto Porter, Nerlens Noel, C.J. McCollum and Rudy Gobert.
Bennett’s career in far from over, but he may have to go overseas before he can retire from basketball.
