Ersan Ilyasova has agreed to re-sign with Atlanta Hawks on a 1-year, $6M deal, according to Shams Charania of The Vertical.

Ilyasova played 26 games with the Atlanta Hawks last year, after being traded there from the Philadelphia 76ers. He also played three games with the Oklahoma City Thunder last year. Ilyasova will be thrust into a much bigger role this year after All-Star forward Paul Millsap signed a 3-year deal with the Denver Nuggets.

Atlanta will rely on Ilyasova’s three-point shooting ability tremendously this season if they want to be competitive at all. He will also need to be a veteran leader on what is now an extremely young Atlanta team — similar to what his role was in Philadelphia for the first half of the season. Expect Ilyasova’s production to increase significantly with the loss of Dwight Howard and Paul Millsap in the frontcourt.
