Aaron Gordon has some unfinished business in the NBA Dunk Contest.

On February 2nd, the NBA announced Orlando Magic forward Aaron Gordon will be making his return to the NBA 2017 All-Star dunk contest. Even though fans won’t be getting the Zach LaVine and Aaron Gordon rematch that many expected. There is still plenty to be excited for about the 2017 NBA Dunk Contest.

Aaron Gordon fans and Magic fans aren’t the only ones excited for Gordon’s return to the Dunk contest. The Orlando Magic’s mascot, Stuff, tweeted his excitement of Gordon’s return on Twitter. Who knows maybe we could possibly see Magic mascot Stuff assist Gordon again in the NBA dunk contest.

Despite the Orlando Magic struggles this season, Aaron Gordon is currently averaging 11.3 points per game, 4.6 rebounds per game and 1.9 assists per game.

Arron Gordon joined the NBA TNT Tipoff Show the night the participants were announced. Ernie Johnson asked Aaron Gordon about his opinion about not being able face off against Zach LaVine again in the competition.

“He was one of those guys that elevated the competition he’s half the reason why it was so special. But going into the competition I really wasn’t worried about any of the other competitors. The only thing I really was concerned with and focused on was completing my dunks so I’m going to have the same approach. I really don’t care who else is in the competition. For me it’s just going out there and putting on a show and dunking the basketball.”

With LaVine opting not to participate in this years competition. Gordon is likely to be considered the favorite, but it won’t be easy for Aaron as the competition will include Derrick Jones Jr., Glenn Robinson III and DeAndre Jordan.

Gordon’s two best dunks at last years competition came when he jumped over The Orlando Magic mascot Stuff on a dunk and when he also took the ball from Magic mascot as he circled on a hover-board that earned Gordon a perfect 50 score.

The 2017 Verizon Slam Dunk competition will be on Saturday February 18 at 8 p.m. ET on TNT. The All-Star weekend event will be hosted at Smoothie King Center in New Orleans.
